Oh my god, what a difference a couple of days makes…Chuck Leavell writes and informs us that he had two tix for tonight’s show if DP wants them.  DP feels obligated to buy them (like if he doesn’t this one time he might not get them again in the future) and decides that he is too tired to go to the show.  So, after being cast to the last row the previous Thursday this feels like a pretty good make up for that experience. Everything about this show is superior to the Staples Center and why not?  It’s the Stones at the Wiltern for gosh sakes.  RT & I are on the floor.  Neil Young is in the balcony smiling away.  I spoke briefly with Tommy Keene and his brother.  Solomon Burke opened the show and was INCREDIBLE.  The Stones should be opening for him.  But check out the set list…the boys pulled out a lot of great songs.  And there they were fifty feet away.  You could almost call it intimate.  The next day get an email from Chuck:  “Jon…so glad you could make it and that you enjoyed! I did indeed get the mysterious video tape with the $$…thanks. It was a fun show, I thought.  Always nice to hear that you’re in the mix, too! Take care, and hope to meet you in person some day! Chuck”  Mr. Leavell you are a gentlemen.  Thank you.
